A home styling consulting platform, originally created by one product manager, two designers, and three developers, I was one of product designers. It was launched on Feb 2022, achieving a goal to successfully deliver within five months.
After the team project, I made a usability test to testify the reliability of original website. Based on the assessment, modified screens for more user centric service.

Redesign
To improve the service for better personalized home styling
I was really eager to prove it through user testing. This is because, to succeed within a limited time, only MVP features were kept, which means some features had to be eliminated. Fortunately, this website had already been launched and was actively in use, working as a great fundamental indication.

Original landing page

Original landing page
Two groups of users
Clients and Consultants
Two different types of users, the client and the consultant, were targets of this service. So I made a list of more than three tasks for each position.
Tasks for each user group

1️⃣ Client :
A single-person household who is interested in home styling and has done home decoration
2️⃣ Consultant :
A home styling designer who wants to pursue a career as a professional interior designer.
Prototype wireframes
I also used the enhanced version of prototyping in wireframe step, making an easy comparison the launched website with improved design.

User test
Observe and record how users actually utilize it
With participants selected to closely align with Ownroom's target group, I provided them with three scenario-based tasks that has something to do with jobs-to-be-done.

Examples of users' feedback
"It is hard to search for design style in detail and the words meaning design are ambiguous to understand."
"How can I catch up the styling progress being done? As a client, I want to actively communicate with my consultant."
"Consultants find difficulty in confirming whether or not the clients consider the proposals are satisfactory."

Clients
✓ Application form discourages users' motivation, because it is out-dated and boring.
✓ Application form discourages users' motivation, because it is out-dated and boring.
Consultants
✓ Project management tools for efficiency are needed such as to-do lists for each project.
✓ Little difference between the projects 'in progress' and 'completed' downturns the productivity.
Common
✓ There are no indicators to show the progress of consulting project such as status update.
✓ The My Page interface design of client's and that of consultant's are similar, make people feel conjungled.
Problem
1. Ambiguous styling categories and search results
At the exploratory stage, users have difficulties in searching detailed and preferred home styling cases.
2. The lack of communication tools
It is difficult to make significant progress in projects, because consultants cannot actively get feedback from clients.
3. Uncertain project progress indicators
Users, both clients and consultants, feel frustrated with the inability to track real-time consultation progress.
Enhancing search and filter functions
to allow users to explore styles that suit their preferences.
Intuitive indicators of project progress
on both the Client and Consultant My Pages.
AR home styling proposal
to provide realistic styling and real-time communication despite physical distance.
Branding
Color & Icon
The Ownroom Orange expresses the warmth of the personalized space. In the redesign process, two point colors were added to not only create warmth but also vivid mood.

AS-IS & TO-BE
1. Detailed category and filter
I added in more categories such as residence type, budget, etc. Since it was the most frequently mentioned point, meticuously subdivided keywords were added under the each categories.

2. Counseling progress state is illustrated on My page
Since a current stage of consultation wasn't shown before, the improved screen showcases it through progress bar in detail.

3. Answer one question per page in application form
To deal with the issue of application input cause overload, the screen was changed to be more simple and intuitive.

What I learned
The process of redesigning what I made
During the user test, I was able to hear the good and the inconvenience points, motivating me to reflect the most important feedbacks. There were times when feedback on my design felt sharp, but I learned that it was an essential process for a more touching user experience.
